CHIO Aachen celebrates Soers (pronounced Zurs) Sunday -- a free open house especially for the residents of Aachen. Beginning with the church service in the dressage arena at 11:30 a.m., the trade fair area is open, there are special entertainment for children and the finals of the Olympic Selection Trials for jumping for countries who do not have an opportunity to compete in major events will be held in the afternoon. The winners will compete in show jumping at Aachen this week. The weather is beautiful -- sunny and predicted to stay this way after three weeks of rain. A thunderstorm did bring rain about noon yesterday, but then it cleared about 6 p.m. Bonnie Rombach and I flew into Brussels on Friday and drove to Aachen in a brand new Saab rental car. winning Farbenfroh is recovering from a minor injury and unable to compete
for Germany. The German team is: Germany won team gold at WEG as they have at all the major dressage championships. USA, silver team medalists at WEG, have their top three WEG pairs competing: Brentina, Debbie McDonald, 4th
individually at WEG Spain, team bronze at Jerez WEG, continues to be competitive with Beauvalais, Beatriz Ferrer-Salat, Silver
individual at Jerez and Hortelano replacing Granadero. Denmark, 4th in the team at Jerez, but without Blue Hors Cavan and Lars Petersen, is not competing in the team competition at Aachen. Kennedy and Lone Jorgensen will compete as individuals. Dressage competitors will arrive on Monday and Tuesday for the CDIO beginning on Wednesday. The best compete at Aachen!
