Bonfire is Ready!

9/21 Today Bonfire, Goliath, Silvano and Ferro could already have a taste of the arena where they are competing next week. All the participating countries were allowed to practice for 25 minutes in the stadium, complete with judges boxes, flowers, etc. All the horses of the Dutch team were practicing parts from their Grand Prix tests. It looks like the horses are in top form. Sjef: “Anky practiced the entire Grand Prix test and produced some great work. Anky and I were very satisfied. He is in peak condition and ready for it. Arjen could ride approximately ¾ of his test and it also went well. After the practice we trained a little bit more on some movements. Silvano also showed himself well. Ellen rode first, so they had the stadium to themselves for a while. Coby practiced a few parts of the test, which looked good. Team coach Jürgen Koschel was pleased as punch with his team. Unfortunately, 25 minutes wasn’t long enough. An hour after our training, we took a glance at our biggest rivals, the Germans. I must say that all the horses looked very well and fit and their work was good. So this will promise to be a hard fight to the end next week.”

General Rehearsal on Thursday

9/19 Next Thursday all the dressage riders may practice for the last time in the stadium. The ring will look like it is during the competition itself. Judge boxes, flowers, all the bells and whistles will be present. So everybody is eager to use the opportunity of the general rehearsal. Unfortunately, every country only gets 25 minutes to use the ring. So they cannot practice the whole test. The Netherlands may use the ring fourth on the list. This means around 8.45 a.m.
