Netherlands Dressage Tickets Almost Sold Out 9/07 There has been much interest for the equestrian dressage. The Kur to music is sold out with 20,000 spectators expected. The Grand Prix Special is almost sold out as well. For the Grand Prix on both days 15,000 to 16,000 tickets are sold. The show jumping for the eventing proves to be another popular event with the stands completely sold out. In contrast the show jumping still has many unsold seats. Visit to Olympic Village 9/07 Tomorrow it is forecasted to be great weather. So on the programme is a visit to the Olympic village. As the team is not staying in the village they want to taste the atmosphere now that most of the Olympic athletes have arrived. At the same time they can pick up five bicycles that are available for them. There is also a brand new Volkswagen from the Dutch Olympic Committee waiting for the riders. These Olympic Volkswagens are especially shipped all the way from Holland to add convenience for the sporters. The family wagon for the dressage team that carries nine people was very welcome, as the previous car, hired by Sjef, was coming to the end of its life. In the eyes of Sjef it was to be driven like his own Porsche at home. It is now evident that this was not the case. Jo Hinnemann Arrives 9/06 Johan Hinnemann, the private trainer of Coby van Baalen arrived in Sydney today. Despite his fear of flying he survived the long journey. As a reward the Dutch team took him to dinner at a Thai restaurant in Windsor. The show jumping riders are now starting to arrive at Horsley Park as well. Traffic Heats Up 9/06 The traffic on the roads every day around Sydney is getting busier, as more people are arriving. Sjef: “We are waiting for it to become really bad once the Games begin. We deal with a lot of traffic on the way to Horsley Park as we pass the baseball stadium. The Mountain biking and Shooting is also in our area. Luckily we have found some short cuts to Horsley Park, which makes the drive nicer. In Sydney we expect chaos during the peak of the Games.” Storm in Sydney 9/05 At the moment it is very windy in Sydney. The wind was blowing so hard that some trees had fallen on top of houses. This is quite normal weather for this time of the year in Sydney. Apart from the wind the temperature is nice, ranging from 20-23 degrees. In the Olympic village the overhead electric cables for the train were blown down. Because of this the train was not working today. All the riders have now moved to the Olympic Village. Only the Dutch, German and Italian riders have stayed in their original places and are not moving to the Olympic Village. Copyright © Dressage un Ltd. All rights reserved.
